Research

Research in the BioEngineering group falls into four broad areas:

  • development and design of process for production of biological control agents, in particular baculovirus biopesticides
  • development of technologies to improve the production, analysis and bioactivity of recombinant proteins produced by mammalian cell factories
  • development of tissue engineering technologies for production of blood cells used for gene therapy, immunotherapy, bone marrow transplantation and transfusion, as well as microtissues used for drug discovery & delivery
  • metabolic engineering of microbes and plants to enhance yield and quality of biopolymers
