 Information about Bioprocess Engineering

The interface of bioscience and engineering
The interface of
bioscience and
engineering

The University of Queensland has an exceptional commitment to bioscience and engineering. At the interface of these disciplines, bioengineering has the potential to provide new solutions for biotechnology and medicine. Bioengineering requires a multi-disciplinary approach; a synergy of chemical engineering, biochemistry and molecular cell biology. We aim to harness a combination of these technologies to develop new and innovative bioprocess applications.

Our laboratory forms part of the new Australian Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology at UQ. We are interested in engineered biological systems producing high-value therapeutic recombinant products such as monoclonal antibodies. Research utilizes an integrated suite of technology platforms including cell culture engineering, proteome analysis, gene expression and protein characterisation; from single genes to the proteome, from the proteome to cell populations.

We value active collaboration with our industrial partners. We aim to work with them to create novel solutions to industrial problems.
