We trust that you will find the time you spend with us over the next few years to be of great benefit in providing you with not only a worthwhile focused and practical education, but also with skills to assist you in making the transition from formal study to the workplace.
The Division prides itself on its identity as a national leader in the chemical and environmental engineering field, with a dynamic and well-resourced research environment and an excellent international reputation. We use a project based curriculum which integrates a range of teaching methods and learning styles, varying from traditional lecture based courses to innovative team project and problem-based learning. We maintain a high quality learning environment through well resourced facilities and a high ratio of tutors to students.
We encourage you to be proactive in your education and become part of the Chemical Engineering extended family. In the last few years a number of exciting initiatives have been developed by students with a little help from staff. The industry mentors scheme and the biofutures symposium are excellent examples. You will find all the staff approachable and enthusiastic about supporting good ideas. The student-staff committee is one excellent vehicle for developing initiatives.
The Chemical and Environmental Engineering Students' Society (ChESS) and staff have an active social program throughout the year. A lunch to welcome the incoming second year students is usually held in the first week of semester, and we look forward to meeting you there.
